Recent History...

2007 commences...

2007 commenced but motivation was at an all time low. Work was really busy and it was easy to find excuses for not running or going to the gym. I did a few trip to the gym over the course of a month and a few 5 mile runs outside but not a great deal. This was pretty much it for the first part of 2007, I started to put weight on, clothes became tighter...you know the story.

Wake up call....

10 Weeks of Personal Training Sessions

I was given personal training voucher for my birthday which I still had not redeemed so I thought that I would undertake an overhaul to re-motivate myself and start re-building from where I had left off.

So I booked the first session and the motivation that came from just booking the session was immense. I had almost a week until the first session and I had some great workouts leading up to the first consultation.

My goal was to reach 10% bodyfat not over this 10 week period but ultimately. I started the session at 84 kgs and 21.9% bodyfat. The initial sessions taught me new exercises and variety. I ended the 10 weeks at 81 kgs and 17.9% bodyfat, a loss of 4% bodyfat and 3 kgs.

You say you "still" hadn't redeemed your birthday personal training voucher in this post. In my mind I think, I bet by "still" he means just from like a month ago maybe even significantly less. Six week on the OUTSIDE. Am I right? Tell me if I guessed close. Would you think significantly less of me, if I revealed to you that I have not ironed one item of clothing in the last eight months? In my defense the last items I ironed, you know at the dawn of the century, took like an hour each.

PS I'll post it here so in case some take this as anti-shred talk, but if you had decided to take it easy to celebrate your amazing stats or for any reason, I would have thought in my mind, "Good for Andrew." And not have had even a negative thought one IOTA. You just get a feeling about people some times. I get a vibe that it may be an even bigger challenge for YOU to TAKE IT EASY. Just a guess. I like guessing if you can't tell. I'm okay with being wrong.

My free PT session was redeemed first week in July and my Birthday is mid March so it was 3 1/2 months until I used it.

I was in a pretty bad place personally at the start of this year, mindset wise that is which then led me to put on weight due to lack of exercise and getting back into old habits!!

Not at all I wouldn't much fancy doing the ironing each weekend whilst trying to hold on to a walker either!! It's hard enough at times with 2 kids trying to kill each other ;-)

Thanks on the last point. Had it been not in the shred then maybe it would have warranted a day off and I will take a couple of weeks at the end of this 10 week session to chill for a while. But I will not stop completely but I may swim a bit instead.

I am pretty full on as you may have guessed and if I say I will do something I will do it. It's all or nothing which some take as great but others see as fanaticle, I guess it depends on your outlook. I did the same with quitting smoking.

The trouble is if you rest completely for even a week you start to like it again and it can be really hard to get back into it, I guess it then gets scary how easy it is to get back into old habits.

I will chill in 4 weeks though, but I will try to keep at maintenance levels or just dipping over occasionally so that when I come back to reach my final goal of 10% I will be able to carry on from where I left off!!!

Take care Christy,

Andrew

I can relate to being in a bad place at the start of the year. It's what brought me to the Philippines by April.

You're very right on so many accounts in your reply about the trouble with resting completely. This has been the nature of my struggle for quite some time, but fate seems VERY determined to teach me patience, rest and moderation as of late. I wish I could hurry up and learn it already. :)

My lack of ironing has nothing to do with the walker, which is actually only a recent condition (6 weeks maybe?), and more to do with being just really bad at laundry all around. I must have written something wrong in a post to give you the impression I've been with it longer, because you have amazingly, astute comprehension skills. I'm also thinking a
you're a fast reader and typer too. See how I like to guess, again?

Which brings me to another more relevant point. Thanks for your very ASTUTE and kind comment about being "gutted" about not being able to fully participate. I couldn't be more impressed by your level of understanding. I can't put it into words, so I'll fall on a cliche, it meant more than you can imagine.

This is way too long. Have a great day!

PS I adore the fanatical. Being even-keeled all the time is mega boring and makes for bad art. lol

Hey Christy,

I knew you were only with the walker a short time, was just thinking about the current reasons for not doing it! It is boring but I just stick on the music channels and go for it!!

Slow reader and fast typist, it is only the last couple of years that I have stated reading again but it takes me a while to get through them, Altered Carbon at the moment if you like Sci Fi and I know you do, very good so far, suppose to be one of the best ever written according to an article I read, not sure about that but great read!!

Have a great evening,

Take care,

Andrew

OMG! I've gotten so spoiled, because we have a housegirl here that it didn't even occur to me that I ought do any ironing. I'll have to check out that book.

You are forbidden to post another comment on this post. I'll never get to all your other posts if I keep coming back to here.

BTW, in my mind you and Dougal are the male versions of Suzette and me. Very male, manly men versions that talk about rugby and fitness stats and give manly compliments to each other. I think it's so cool.

OK no more posts here then, you have a housegirl, lucky!! I wouldn't do the ironing either if there was someone else to do it for me!!
